Crowding in Crowd

Because crowd simulation is (I think) a mixed of computer science-artificial intelligence, cognitive science, social science, environmental engineering and off course urban design and architecture, there a lot things to consider and to look before I even begin to start reading about it. Where do I start? There a  some methods and paradigm on understanding human behaviors and social interaction, even approaches how to deploy certain parameters to the sequence of algorithmic codes. Certainly, AI is still infant to understand the complex behaviors on single, peer, flock and crowd environments.

To be honest it is surely challenging to know to what extent the agent-based simulation make contributions in design area- physical design, e.g architecture and urban design. We are still in the process of understanding how we design in digital age, how this digital tools could make a differences on how and what we design. And as a part of this, ABM might be one candidate of simulation methods on which we can expect more reliable in the context of human behaviors in virtual environment. Let’s face, we already have performance-based simulation for building and environment based on the particle agents made by tons of parametrics variables. That’s why we are now eager to make one that based on human-behaviors. Differs from energy-related performance simulation, in this simulation the variables are come from both behaviors and visualization aspects. We still have to deal with modelling.

Ahh well, better to start than nothing. Architecture is always about physical things and human behavior, isn’t it? When my head is start boiling, it’s better to look architecture as an eye candy of short of things…hello Dubai, nice to meet’s pleasure to know how you spent all of your money….:-)
